What's new with Blowfish?

Blowfish Shoes rushed onto the scene last year with the unique and comfy Hobbit boot. This season, they're coming out with some more pieces that are as cute as their namesake.

Last year, I loved my green plaid flannel Hobbit boots so much that I wore them until they came apart at the seams. They've updated their trademark shoe this year with bigger, vintagey buttons which make them look a little dressier in my opinion. They run at the same price as before, around $45-50.

Remember Blowfish's show-stopping ballet flats of last year? Sadly, their new flats seem to be a little dulled down in comparison, resorting to cliche bows and rosettes. Thankfully you can still purchase their old flats from stores online. The one pair I do like from this year is called Silla, a military-inspired piece with brassy studs. I am particularly fond of the olive flannel.

As for Blowfish's specialty, boots are fabulous this year.
I am so satisfied with their new selection. I love every single pair they have come out with, but one of my favorites is the Tulsa boot. Yes, I love studs. If you're bold, buy the turquoise!

First outfit EVER!

WELL, this is my first outfit I ever made for my blog!
I went into my wishlist on forever21.com and this is what I came up with. It is something I would wear downtown with friends, or to a party. I'll start from the top down.
The top is one of my favorite cuts, the dolman. I was scared of this 80's-inspired trend when it first started appearing a few months ago- then I tried one on. It is surprisingly flattering as well as extremely comfortable. Shown above is a shimmer-dusted top from Forever21 with slitted sleeves. I picked the grey because it's one of this season's most popular colors and goes with just about everything. This top is only $22.80.
Dusted Dolman Tunic
I adorned the top with a shiny scarf. I love sequins! They dress up anything. This one is a bit of a splurge at $34 since it's from Urban Outfitters. You could probably find a similar scarf at Claire's or Icing for half the price.
Kimchi Blue Sparkle Shimmer Oblong Scarf
YES, I am part of the "leggings ARE pants" revolution. Leggings are pants because they are "a garment extending from the waist to the knee or ankle, covering each leg separately" (dictionary.com). My one rule for leggings is that they must cover at least 50% of your butt, and all of your crotch. Tunics and longer shirts look stylish with leggings instead of jeans. The pair I picked are black velvet, giving the outfit another layer of texture as well as a luxe look. These leggings are a great buy at $11.80!

I chose two different brightly colored shoes for this outfit. You could wear it with the beautiful purple suede pump on the left by Steve Madden ($80), or a forest green leather heel by Office ($57.50), which I found on the lovely Sugarscape.com. An inexpensive option would be going to Target- they have the cheapest and cutest heels, and most are under $40. Any vibrant heel will look great with this outfit.

A chunky mixed-pallete rhinestone bracelet goes perfectly with the soft scarf and bright shoes. This one only costs $5.80 (sidenote: why do the prices from Forever21 always end in .80?!)

I hope you liked my first outfit ever! I'm staying true to my title. This is something I could definitely afford at $154.40 maximum.

WHY?

I started this blog because:
a. I need a hobby
b. I want to help people
Okay, the second part is kind of a stretch (come on, it's clothes). But seriously, everyone tells me I have great fashion. They often say I am the only one that could pull something off. That's not true! Anyone can pull off great fashion, and without spending a fortune. I'll show you how in my upcoming entries.
